Touring Information

Conwy
Conwy is an historic and picturesque town, dominated by its impressive Edwardian Castle, built to command the mouth of the Conwy river and the main route across North Wales. Within its ancient walls, the town is a brilliant patchwork of historic houses, including Britain's smallest.

Bodnant Gardens
Bodnant Gardens are among the UK's finest with an astonishing selection of trees, shrubs and flowering plants, which have been planted over many years to ensure all year round colour and variety. Dazzling displays of daffodils in early Spring are followed by the blossoms of May and shows of summer bedding. Golden Autumn colour is a highlight and even during the Winter, there is plenty to see, experience and admire as new vistas are opened up on a site chosen for its mix of formal garden and wild surroundings of valleys and glades.

Sychnant Pass
The Sychnant Pass leads from the coastal resort of Penmaenmawr over the ancient road rising through the hills, long before the modern coastal route was constructed. Horses would have been the main form of transport on this steep narrow route. It is worth the climb to look back at Anglesey and the Menai straits laid out before you.

The Ugly House
The Ugly House is in reality far from that. It is believed to have been originally built as a hafodunos, which means a house built overnight to conform to an ancient law providing land for development. It is now a very picturesque visitor centre and cafe in a beautiful woodland glade.

Swallow Falls
The Swallow Falls are a spectacular series of waterfalls on the River Llugwy near Betws y Coed. The name is based on the Welsh ewynnol (=foaming) which sounds just like y wennol (=the swallow). It just may have been that early tourist marketing steered towards the more memorable and attractive name, enthusiastically taken up by local hotels and businesses
