Llanddwyn Island , St Dwynwen - Welsh Patron Saint of Lovers.
Introduction
We start the day by visiting this spectacular island on the south west coast of Anglesey, this venue has everything, splendid walks, scenery, wildlife, history, myth and tales.
The island is also the focal point for St Dwynwen's Day, 25th January - Welsh patron saint of lovers.

After the visit to Llanddwyn the trail continues as we explore further this dramatic south western corner of Anglesey.
Essentials
Total distance of 7 miles of low grade walking but a short section of the route can be a bit muddy.
Refeshment opportunities is not available during the first part of the day on Llanddwyn.
It is essential that you are a regular walker and have adequate walking shoes and all other essential equipment such as a rucksack to carry water and waterproof clothing etc
Itinerary
1. Coastal walk to the island
2. Llanddwyn island, St Dwynwen - Welsh patron saint of lovers. Tour of the island.
3. Return walk through Newborough Forest, an extensive nature reserve, ecologically important and also an area where the Red Squirrel can be seen. For info http://www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/INFD-6DCBWD
4. After the above walk (4 miles) which will take apporx 3 hours we will then have a short ride to the Village of Aberffraw. Cafe, exhibition gallery and toilets etc are available.
5. Another short journey and then a walk (1 mile) on the edge of Malltraeth sands.
6. Then on to the banks of the Menai Straits, opposite Caernarfon Castle with excellent opportunities for views of the Snowdonia mountains. This area used to be the ferry crossing to the mainland before the Menai Bridge was built and is teaming with historical features.
7. The last walk of the day includes crossing the river Braint by means of the stepping stones (2 miles)
8. The finale of the day will be visiting a vineyard and a quick tasting session with no obligation to purchase; I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised with the quality of Anglesey wine.
