The 'salty' mussel trail
Introduction
The 'salty' mussel trail combines walking with panoramic views of Snowdonia along the dramatic coastline of the Menai Straits on the isle of Anglesey with a visit to two fascinating and successful business organisations. Menai Oysters began life in 1994. Set up by marine biologist Shaun Krijnen, the company initially concentrated on oyster production, farming the pacific oyster. It wasn't until 2000 that the opportunity to farm more ground became available. The ground in question contained mussels. www.menaioysters.co.uk

The other success story is the Anglesey Sea Salt Company Ltd. The Halen Môn story... Halen Môn began with a saucepan of seawater on the Aga in the family kitchen. As the water boiled away and the salt crystals started to form, they knew that they had struck culinary gold. Today the sea salt is enjoyed around the world by chefs, food lovers and even the odd US president. The company supplies Marks and Spencer, Waitrose and Harvey Nichols, along with over 100 of the nation’s best delicatessens. Anglesey sea salt can also be found in 22 countries and some of the world's top restaurants. www.halenmon.com
The link below shows some famous guests such as Michael Portillo, Great British Railway Journeys, The Hairy Bikers & the Ready Steady Cook team who have visited the Halen Mon centre and Celticos can also make your visit a memorable experience.

The walk continues as we make our way back on to the mainland and visit the Whistlestop fine cuisine establishment on Bangor pier. Here you will have the opportunity to sample the Menai mussels in a special sauce with a hint of Anglesey salt cooked by Terry the friendly chef. http://whistlestopbangorpier.co.uk/index.html
